Key grammar

Use hay to introduce the existence of something: Hay un perro en el jardín.
Use singular gente: mucha gente, not muchas gentes.
Use personal a with known people: No conozco a ningún argentino.
pedirlo combines pedir with the direct-object pronoun lo.

Pronunciation

Initial R and RR are strong: regalo, perro.
A single R between vowels is a tap: tarea.
In the consonant group br, as in libro, R is normally a tap. The earlier blanket rule that R beside any consonant is stronger was an overgeneralization. See Instituto Cervantes, section 1.3.8.
